Zakk Sabbath is a Black Sabbath tribute band fronted by hard rock/heavy metal six-string legend Zakk Wylde, who also happens to be the longtime guitarist for Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne. After issuing a live EP in 2017, the band headed into the studio to deliver their own take on the influential group’s iconic 1970 debut. The resulting Vertigo arrived in 2020.

Wylde formed Zakk Sabbath in 2014 with Rob “Blasko” Nicholson (Ozzy‘s bassist since 2003) and Rob Zombie drummer John Tempesta, the latter of whom was replaced by Joey Castillo (Queens of the Stone Age, Danzig) ahead of the recording of the band’s debut EP. Released in 2017, the Southern Lord-issued Live in Detroit saw the trio deliver searing renditions of the Sabbath classics “War Pigs,” “Supernaut,” and “Fairies Wear Boots.” Three years later Zakk Sabbath unveiled Vertigo, a seismic studio re-recording of Black Sabbath‘s eponymous 1970 debut to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
